Broncos players yell “Papa Johns” as audible vs. Eagles

From the department of too funny to be true comes this story.

Peyton Manning is the master of both quarterbacking and advertising; now he’s found a way to combine the two on the field.

Manning’s been Papa Johns’ spokesman for years now, showing up in national advertising for the delivery pizza company with the CEO, selling pies to hungry football fans.

Now his teammates have gone so far as to call out “Papa Johns” during games, as they did against the Eagles, Sunday.

(The link to that video can be found here.)

It seems logical that Manny Ramirez was the man yelling out “Papa Johns.” The center usually makes line calls to teammates, giving them cues to which way to block, and the center is mic’d up in the NFL now, so fans can better hear quarterbacks at the line. Of course, his former college teammate and current starting right guard Louis Vasquez may have joined in, too.

Was it a real call that the team uses, or was Ramirez razzing Manning?

It’s hard to say for sure, but either way, it was pretty funny.
