Rumor: Raiders stadium project to start September '14?

One of the biggest issues pertaining to the future of the Oakland Raiders for many years now has been obtaining a new stadium. With the lease running out at the things are even more desperate with many options being thrown around from Relocation to sharing with the hated 49ers at their new palace being built in Santa Clara.

Raiders superfan Dr. Death (@26DrDeath) has been at the forefront and the face of the loyal Oakland fans, petitioning the city to do whatever it takes to keep the beloved Raiders in town with a stadium worthy of one of the NFL’s greatest franchises.

Dr Death’s campaign has not fallen on deaf ears. Ed McFarlan, developer of the coliseum city project that encompasses the new Oakland Raiders stadium facility has contacted Dr. Death to  voice appreciation for his efforts firstly and giving up some very interesting and welcomed information which Dr Death was nice enough to pass on for the rest of the Raider Nation today via twitter. He has been urging Raider fans to attend the Oakland city council meeting tomorrow evening at 5:00pm to show support for the Raiders staying where they belong and the new information should really help get the masses to show up:

Well there you have it Raider Nation, if all goes according to plan, ground could be broken in September 2014!!!!!!!

Definitely the most positive talk we have heard for a long time along with the news of new overseas investors from a week or so ago. While its great to hear such positive talk without overwhelming support from the community this still might not get over the line and you have an opportunity to have your voice heard at Oakland City hall tomorrow night to help ensure it does.

Dr. Death has started a Facebook event for the meeting which I encourage all Raiders fans to join, regardless of location and for those in proximity please make an effort to attend and make clear that the fan base demand the OAKLAND Raiders stay in OAKLAND.

As the Facebook event page states:

“You are highly encouraged to attend this meeting next Tuesday, October 15th at 5 pm. This meeting is of high importance, as we need to show complete support for the Oakland City Council in passing an amendment that allows the City of Oakland to add the new investment team (Rashid Al Malik of Dubai and Colony Capital LLC) to the Coliseum City negotiations. This new investment team will be responsible for much, if not all of the funding for Coliseum City.”

and sign the petition!
