Broncos blow out Raiders in season finale win

The Denver Broncos went into Oakland and sank the Raiders.

It was utter domination from the first whistle and the game was basically over in the first half. The Broncos ran up a 31-0 halftime lead as Peyton Manning led his offense to a multitude of NFL records and rested in the second half, in which the Raiders finally found their way to score twice late in the game. Denver clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC and won with ease.

MVP – Demaryius Thomas

Thomas caught two touchdowns from Manning Sunday – one was a 63-yard beauty and the second was a five-yarder that gave the Broncos the single-season scoring record (606 points) – in one of his finest performances of the year. He led the team in both receptions (6) and yards (113) in their season finale win.

LVP – Quentin Jammer

Jammer set the Raiders up and put them into field goal range late in the fourth when he committed a pass interference, and then he was scored upon for Oakland’s first touchdown of the day. While he played a majority of the day, he finished with only one tackle.

X-Factor – Knowshon Moreno

Moreno was just marvelous on Sunday. Early on, Manning went to him over and over again on short passes, allowing the running back to find open space and convert on key third downs. And then, Manning fed him for a short passing play touchdown to start the Broncos’ scoring. Moreno finished with five receptions for 41 yards and the score while rushing six times for 23 yards.

Key Stat – 5,477 passing yards

Manning ran up an NFL-record 5,477 passing yards this season, which was capped with his five-yard touchdown pass to Thomas to end the first half.
