Yesterday when players cleaned out their lockers at the NovaCare Complex, DeSean Jackson was vocal in saying that he thought he deserved a new contract. Jackson is due $9.7 million in 2014.
It seems as though a lot of people took offense to this.
Its ridiculous that Desean Jackson is due to make 10.5 million next year and wants more money. How greedy can you be

DeSean Jackson wants Eagles to redo his contract and get more money. $17mil this year & $10 mil next year isn’t enough. What a team player.

While the angst is understood, it should be noted that only $18 million of the $48.5 million contract that Jackson signed prior to the 2012 season is guaranteed. While it came acrossed as if he was just searching for more cash, DeSean made it a point to say that he was specifically looking for more security.
With a lot of cap space, it might seem wise for the Eagles to grant his wish now. They could restructure his deal this offseason, spreading out more money over the course of more years. This would likely lower Jackson’s cap hit in 2014, creating even more cap space.
