Alshon Jeffery gets the Hawaiian invite

The NFL’s Pro Bowl is an annual event that is now played between the conference championships and the Super Bowl. While some players are unable to play due to their involvement in the big game, others decide against making the jaunt to the islands for the annual All-Star Game. For the Detroit Lions Calvin Johnson, his recent injuries and rough end to the season made the decision for him.

Jeffery’s inclusion was one that many thought should have happened in the initial announcement, but the trip for the second-year pass-catcher is well deserved. While Megatron finished 84 catches for just under 1,500 yards, Jeffery was right behind the all-world receiver with 89 catches for 1,423 yards and seven touchdowns.

“Just being from where I came from to where I am now, what I’m doing…it’s just special to be part of the success we’re having as a team,” Jeffery told the team’s website. “I want to thank my Mama and my family. I’m going to continue to make you all proud.”
