Finding a silver lining in a disappointing Vikings season

2013 was a tough year for the Minnesota Vikings, but there was at least one player that showed a lot this year. Instead of looking at the cliche and talking about Adrian Peterson or even top rookie Cordarrelle Patterson I am going to take this in a different direction. The Vikings defense was a much maligned group in 2013 and the secondary was a big reason why. The Vikings used their second first round pick in 2013 to grab Florida State cornerback Xavier Rhodes. Rhodes did not see much playing time early in the season, but as the year went on he found himself seeing more and more time and covering some of the top receivers in the league.

Rhodes will be looked to more and more next season, and with a healthy Harrison Smith, I expect the Vikings pass defense to crawl out of the gutter as well.
