Michael Strahan to receive Pat Summerall Award


It’s been a busy week for former Giants defensive end Michael Strahan. On Thursday, Strahan learned he is one of the 15 finalists for the 2014 Pro Football Hall of Fame, the inductees for the hall will be announced on Feb. 1.

The former Giant will also be awarded the 9th annual Pat Summerall Award on January 30th, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City. Strahan is receiving the award for his support of multiple charitable initiatives. The award will be presented during the Legends for Charity Dinner, which raises money for and benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Strahan also accepted the award in 2011 with the entire NFL on Fox team.

Former award recipients include Archie Manning, Al Michaels, Chris Collinsworth, Chris Berman, Jim Nantz, Greg Gumbel, and James Brown.
