With the NFL 101 awards being announced, two Carolina Panthers have been named the NFC’s best.
Ron Rivera was named the NFC Coach of the Year while middle-linebacker Luke Kuechly was awarded the NFC Defensive Player of the Year. The Panthers finished out the regular season with an impressive 11 wins in 12 games, and a regular season record of 12-4.
Kuechly was the leading tackler for the Panthers who were ranked second in the NFL.
The team may have lost in their opening game of the playoffs in the divisional round but even the thought of this team making the playoffs at the beginning of the season seemed like a fluke. The team started the year with an abysmal 1-3 record.
These awards were selected by a committee of 101 Pro Football Writers of America and will officially be handed out on March 1st in Kansas City. This is the 44th annual celebration of the PWFA’s selections.
