Oakland Raiders mailbag is upon us once again. Not surprisingly, the questions are surrounding the typical off season topics, the NFL Draft and free agency, but this time they are a little more specific.
@RaidersReporter what are the possibilities of the Raiders trading down?
— Μichael Χ. Τερζακης (@aimonas1) January 22, 2014
Personally, I think there is a very high probability of the Raiders WANTING to trade back. Whether or not they will be able to is another question and one that is not entirely in the control of the Raiders. I do not know there is much talent in the top five of the draft that is such a blue chip prospect that the Raiders simply cannot pass it up. If there is a good enough offer on the table, they will likely trade back and take the extra picks given how much help this roster needs.
@Cover32_OAK What position do we draft round one? QB or defensive line? And who?

General manager Reggie McKenzie is a firm believer in the “best player available” method of drafting. This is why he took DJ Hayden in the first round last season despite bigger needs on the defensive line and the availability of some good defensive tackles.
@RaidersReporter can you see tayjd boyd and sammy watkins in a raiders uniform

Right now, and it is still early with lots of information yet to be revealed, but I like Sammy Watkins as much as anyone else at the number five pick for the Raiders. As for Boyd, anytime I hear this much about a team being interested in a player THIS far away from the draft, it screams “smoke screen” to me. I’m not sure if there is much there or not.
@Cover32_OAK u think they’ll sign josh freeman?
— Z✌️ (@zachariah92) January 22, 2014
I actually think there is a fairly big chance they do sign Freeman. He is young and has a lot of talent. His best season in the NFL was when current Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson was his quarterbacks coach and he will come very very cheap. Given those factors, he is not too bad of an idea as a stop gap option and even potential long term starter.
