Miami Dolphins introduce new general manager Dennis Hickey

The Dolphins introduced new general manager Dennis Hickey today in Davie.

Right from the start owner Stephen Ross when introducing Dennis Hickey made it very clear the importance of the general manager and head coach working together in harmony.

Ross not so subtly took a couple of shots at former general manager Jeff Ireland making it very clear to everyone that Ireland and Philbin’s relationship was very shaky. It was blatant the two did not see eye to eye.
Ross then explained Hickey’s function which the new general manager said was very clear when he interviewed for the job.

Ross also said “I told Dennis if I tell you to draft a player or call a player or play a player, you don’t have to listen”.

Hickey seemed nervous however very excited to be joining the Dolphins organization.

Hickey would not confirm the future plans of assistant GM Brian Gaine nor comment on whether Mark Dominik is a possibility. Hickey also mentioned Joe Philbin was a huge draw to him taking this job.

Hickey told the PBP that he was in charge of Tampa Bay’s drafts. All commented saying that he believes best available player is his preferred method of drafting over need.

Steve Ross accidentally admitted that Incognito and Martin will not be back with the Dolphins next year and confirmed the Ted Wells report will be coming out after the Super Bowl.
