The top five cornerbacks capable of immediate impact if drafted by San Diego

Draft season is almost upon us, folks. As we went over on Tuesday, San Diego’s primary focus in this upcoming draft should be on defense. Today, we will take a look at the top five options for the Chargers to improve their embattled secondary. Some slight improvements in the defensive backfield could bring this team to new heights in 2014.

5. Jason Verrett, CB, Texas Christian University

Lately, Verrett has been shown to be an early second-round pick in mock drafts. If he were to fall deeper into the second, San Diego would be a very nice landing spot for the senior cornerback who was a member of one of the top defenses in the country throughout his tenure. The 5’10” 176 lbs. cornerback was a 2013 first-team Walter Camp All-American this past season and is very good in press coverage. He may need to beef up to succeed at the next level, but he is certainly a good choice if he comes around.
