Earlier in the week, ESPN’s John Clayton included the Rams in his list of teams he believes could be Super Bowl bound in 2014. The consensus around this team is that they’re generally trending upward, but perhaps calling them a Super Bowl contender at this point might be a bit of a stretch.
However, the Rams were again mentioned among top teams to watch as the offseason begins, this time by NFL.com’s Adam Schein.
The full list can be found here, but Schein had this (among other things) to say about the Rams:
“St. Louis is the forgotten team in the ultra-competitive NFC West, but don’t overlook this group. Last offseason, many among the media were talking playoffs for the Rams, and for good reason: They have a strong defensive line, solid defensive backs and weapons on offense. They need quarterback Sam Bradford to stay healthy and they need to beef up at receiver and along the O-line.”
He doesn’t offer much that you don’t already know about what lies ahead for the Rams in terms of their needs heading into 2014 (and his opinion on the secondary is questionable), but it goes without saying that the Rams won’t be flying under many radars as the slow creep toward next season begins.
