The 2014 NFL season may still be months away, with many things to still come like the scouting combine, the draft, rookie camp, OTA, and training camp, but that should not stop us from looking at the strength of schedule(SOS) for the upcoming season.
ESPN released earlier today the SOS for the 2014 season. And your Indianapolis Colts will have what appears to be the easiest schedule in the league come next year, with a combined opponents winning percentage of .430, narrowly beating out division foes Tennessee Titans and the Houston Texans.
The ratings are based on how the opponents you play in the 2014 season fared in 2013. With the Colts playing inside their division who all but themselves struggled mightily last season, they will also play against the AFC North and the NFC East, and games against the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots. So for right now the Colts appear to have the easiest road to the playoffs come September when the season starts.
Yet it is just on paper that the Colts might have the easiest road to the playoffs. And remember the Broncos has the easiest strength of schedule entering last season, and the ended up in the Super Bowl.
