Republican Kevin Faulconer won the special election for San Diego Mayor yesterday following the resignation of Bob Filner in August amidst sexual harassment allegations. While both Faulconer and his opponent, David Alvarez, promised to put less emphasis on big civic projects like a new stadium, Mark Fabiani (special council to the Chargers president) is excited to resume the push to getting the Chargers some new diggs. According to Fox News, Fabiani is happy to see someone who will be in office for the coming years. Hopefully he will be able to work with Faulconer to begin the groundwork on a move that will keep the Chargers in San Diego for a long time.
Faulconer graduated from San Diego State University and is from Onxard. Keeping the Chargers in San Diego would be a longstanding part of the mayor-elect’s legacy, and who better to get the ball rolling than someone who understands the community. Congrats Mr. Faulconer, now help us get our Bolts playing in the stadium they deserve.
