– Draft prospect Michael Sam from the University of Missouri became the first gay player to come out before the NFL draft. The 49ers were asked about the possibility of having an openly gay teammate in 2012. When asked if an openly gay player would be welcomed in the 49ers locker room, coach Harbaugh answered a resounding ‘yes.’ The 49ers have been in the news regarding this issue when cornerback Chris Culliver made insensitive remarks regarding gay players during a Super Bowl press conference. – The 49ers provided a tour of the new Levi’s Stadium on Wednesday. The stadium is now 80 percent complete with much of the heavy lifting finished. About half of the 69,000 seats have been installed. The project is on pace to be completed by August of this year where the San Jose Earthquakes will play the stadium’s first scheduled event. (READ)

– Former 49er Abe Woodson passed away in Las Vegas on Feb. 8, 2014. Woodson was a star kickoff returner for San Francisco from 1958 to 1964. Woodson was drafted by the 49ers in the second round in the 1957 draft. Woodson still remains the 49ers franchise leader in several kickoff return categories: yards (4,873), average return (29.4 yards), longest return (105 yards) and touchdowns (five). (READ)
