The Pittsburgh Steelers will need a wide receiver—who can they target in the draft?

Kicking off the week of the wide receiver here at cover32 and it’s going to be an interesting one for the Pittsburgh Steelers as WR is one of their “need” positions heading into the offseason.

It seems odd to say that as the Steelers boasted one of the better receivers in the entire NFL last season in Antonio Brown.

But with his counterpart Emmanuel Sanders looking more and more likely to jump ship this offseason, it leaves the Steelers with very little depth at WR (or so it would seem).

Last year the Steelers drafted Markus Wheaton out of Oregon State in the third round. The coaching staff if high on Wheaton but fans might not have seen what Wheaton is capable of as he spent the majority of last season mainly on special teams and had limited time at WR.

But with Plaxico Burress, Jerricho Cotchery and Sanders all being free agents, Wheaton will have to step up. And, in a recent interview with Steelers.com he seems to have the attitude to do that:

“Even if we had free agents come back, I want to be able to move up in the ranks at the wide receiver position”

Okay, that’s all well and good but say only Cotchery returns (which seems likely) that would leave the Steelers with just one known commodity, one aging veteran and one unknown sophomore at the position.

Drafting 15th, is that the spot to take a WR? The Steelers might think about it as this year’s draft is packed with WR talent.

So, let’s take a look at the official cover32 Top 10 WRs coming out of the draft this season?

Could the Steelers land a Sammy Watkins? Marqise Lee?

Or will they wait until round two or three and draft Kelvin Benjamin or Allen Robinson?
