Our editors at cover32 on Monday released their list of the top 10 free agent wide receivers.
Surprise, surprise, Anquan Boldin was included. Like, near the top.
The 33 year old (he will be 34 by the start of next season) is rumored to be in talks with the 49ers regarding a multi-year extension. The two sides have until 1 p.m. (Pacific) March 11 to reach an agreement. If they don’t, the 49ers will lose one of their biggest offensive weapons from 2013. Boldin led the team with 1,179 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in a spectacular first season with San Francisco.
His efforts didn’t go unnoticed — the 49ers coaching staff voted him and linebacker NaVorro Bowman the team’s co-MVPs in January.
Considering their situation at wide receiver, the 49ers could certainly use Boldin. But how much should they be willing to pay? Keep in mind, they got Boldin for a bargain last year; the Ravens traded him for a sixth-round draft pick.
