Arrelious Benn is ready to return from ACL injury

Recently, I referred to Philadelphia Eagles’ wide receiver Jeremy Maclin as “under-appreciated“. I’ll now refer to wideout Arrelious Benn is a similar fashion — under the radar.

Benn is coming off an ACL tear, which happened just weeks before the start of last season. He was traded to the Eagles in March from Tampa Bay, where he was chosen with the No. 39 pick in the 2010 draft by the Buccaneers.

His problem during his career has been staying healthy — Benn’s played only eight games in the past few seasons. However, his first two years in the league weren’t all that bad. In 2010 and 2011, he caught 55 passes for 836 yards and five touchdowns. Those aren’t eye-popping stats, but it should be taken into consideration that Benn wasn’t Tampa Bay’s No. 1 option in both those seasons.

Fast-forward to present day, and Benn is itching to get back out on the field. Last night, he tweeted a picture of himself after a late night run.

Via Dan Kadar of SB Nation circa 2010, Benn is a very good blocker and excels in space. Both are necessary traits for what Chip Kelly is trying to have his wideouts do, so it will be interesting to see how Benn fits in the rotation come camp.

Check out some film on Benn here.
