Rivers’ surprising reaction to Michael Sam as potential teammate


Philip Rivers has never been afraid to speak his mind, and since Michael Sam announced his sexual orientation, along with his agent linking Sam to the Chargers, we have been waiting for comments from Philip Rivers. The staunch Catholic quarterback stirred up some controversy previously by endorsing Rick Santorum in the 2012 election. Rivers specifically cited Santorum’s “upholding traditional marriage” as part of the Christian values-based reasoning for his support.

Since the aforementioned link between Sam and the Chargers, Rivers reaction has been in question. Well, No. 17 put any doubt about his ability to play with a homosexual teammate to rest today with his support for any player that can help lead San Diego to a championship.
