Draft Analyst: None of this year's QBs as good as Giants' Ryan Nassib

Call it a bold statement, but it’s something that should at least make you stop and think if you’re a New York Giants fan. On Wednesday, former NFL scout and current Draft analyst Russ Lande released an interesting tweet regarding quarterback Ryan Nassib:

Lande was very supportive of the beliefs of the “higher up” in the tweets that ensued during the conversation. He spoke highly of the Giants quarterback and was baffled as to why teams would be more interested in trading for the Washington Redskins’ Kirk Cousins than Nassib.

It’s unknown what could become of Nassib’s Giants career—or even his NFL career, for that matter. However, the gunslinger from Syracuse will likely have his chance to earn his keep this summer with a chance to be the team’s lone backup quarterback heading into the 2014 season.

Taking over for the incumbent Eli Manning does not appear to be in the cards for Nassib at this time, but he is getting a chance to learn behind an intelligent, successful veteran with much to share. He could also benefit to learn a lot from new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo as well.

Nassib was selected in the fourth round of last year’s draft as the 110th overall pick (which the Giants traded up with the Arizona Cardinals to acquire). He did not see even a modicum of playing time this season, listed as inactive for all 16 regular-season games. In the preseason, he completed just 7-of-19 passes (36.8 percent) for 114 yards.
