For the most part, the NFL’s annual Scouting Combine is a snoozer. It’s a bunch of wannabe pro football players running around in shorts, doing silly drills that have nothing to do with playing the sport.
But every once in a while, there’s a break in the monotony. On rare occasions, those who are forced to watch the drudgery of shuttle drills, bench press reps and 40-yard dashes are thrown a bone.
In the three-plus decades that the league has been gathering draft prospects in one place for every team to evaluate, a few shining moments have occurred. Since the first “combine” in 1982, some memorable things have happened at the league’s annual meat market.
