Jonathan Baldwin still has time in his young career to turn things around.
But as far as his years in Kansas City are concerned, he simply did not live up to expectations of a first round draft pick.
The Chiefs selected Baldwin with the 26th pick of the 2011 draft. 44 receptions, 607 yards, and two touchdowns later, Baldwin was traded to San Francisco for another disappointing wideout from that draft class: A.J. Jenkins.
So we can play the always fun game of who the Chiefs picked Baldwin over. We’ll list the player and what number they went overall: Colin Kaepernick (36), Orlando Franklin (46), Torrey Smith (58), Randall Cobb (64), and Jordan Cameron (102). Any of those players would be key contributors in Kansas City today.
Like I said, Baldwin has time to turn things around, but it needs to happen quickly. The Chiefs couldn’t wait.
