Former New York Giants safety JoJo Nicolas dies following Miami Beach crash

Former New York Giants defensive back JoJo Nicolas has died from injuries sustained in a two-car crash Tuesday morning in Miami Beach, according to the Miami Herald.

Nicolas, 24, passed away at 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday. Family members were thankful to all those who gave their support through social media and other modes of communication.

There had been some positive news earlier in the day, as Nicolas’ status had improved from critical to stable condition. Little else about the situation had been provided by the family, however.

The investigation into the accident, which saw Nicolas’ Lexus wedged underneath the back of an 18-wheeler, is ongoing. In a press conference, detective Vivian Hernandez had minimal information to give at this time.

“The investigation will take awhile,” she said (via the Miami Herald).
