49ers’ Daniel Kilgore signs three-year contract extension

The 49ers’ first contract extension of this offseason belongs to center Daniel Kilgore. Kilgore received a three year extension that runs through 2017. Kilgore has never started a game in his three seasons with the 49ers. The extension suggests current 49ers starting center, Jonathan Goodwin, will likely depart in free agency. If Goodwin does not return, Kilgore will likely be the 49ers’ new starting center.  (READ)

Report: Colin Kaepernick-49ers contract talks off to a positive start

Contract talks between the 49ers and quarterback Colin Kaepernick have begun. Reports are that talks are going well. Kaepernick’s contract restructuring will be the subject of much attention throughout the offseason. Kaepernick is currently scheduled to make around $973,000 for 2014. Early reports suggest the floor on Kaepernick’s new contract will likely be around $15 million per year with the possibility of a $20 million plus per year not ruled out. (READ)

The previous week has been filled with stories about the 49ers relation with its head coach Jim Harbaugh and General Manager Trent Baalke. Whether they like it or not the organization was propelled into the national spotlight when reports surfaced about trading Harbaugh to the Cleveland Browns. The news of possible trade talks captivated the media for a majority of the week and forced the 49ers to address difficult questions surrounding its head coach.
