Green Bay Packers make (first) decision on B.J. Raji and Sam Shields

The Green Bay Packers made at least one decision on Monday afternoon, as the deadline to franchise players came and went and the team sat still.

Free agency begins March 11 and both Raji and Shields are now expected to hit the open market, barring anything unexpected getting done between the team and either player in the next week. Raji had a down year with 17 tackles and zero sacks in 2013, while Shields had four interceptions and 61 tackles on the season.

I see Raji coming back because there is no market for a fat overstuffed couch who can barely stand up. Shields may get some interest but my guess is he hasn’t shown a lot to command the wow factor. Most teams can do better in the draft unless he came cheap and he is not coming cheap.
