Chargers cut McClain, clear $2.5 million in cap space

In a fairly predictable move, the Chargers have cut Le’Ron McClain.

It’s sad to see Le’Ron go because he really is one of the best in the business, but the NFL is just that — a business. The advent of the pass-heavy, up-tempo offense has helped phase out the fullback position, and even in a pace controlled offense like the Chargers, fullback was not an important position. The Chargers have turned to 12 personnel (one RB, two TEs, two WRs) as their go-to formation with the emergence of Ladarius Green. We wish McClain the best of luck in his future career.
