Champ Bailey’s days in Denver are numbered.

According to Jason La Canfora, the Denver Broncos are releasing the veteran cornerback who is due a $9 million base salary in 2015.

The move will save the Broncos $10 million against the cap, a huge number for a player who participated in only five games with three starts in 2013-2014. That means the Broncos are approximately $28 million under the cap for 2014 as of now.

Interestingly, the Broncos didn’t even offer him a pay-cut according to Lindsay Jones.

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie took over as the team’s No. 1 cornerback last season while Chris Harris Jr. is simply their second, Bailey wasn’t even third-best during the Super Bowl XLVIII run.
