Alan Faneca is an all time Pittsburgh Steelers great—there’s no doubt about it.
But unfortunately, he didn’t finish his career in Pittsburgh. So, where did he go?
The nine-time Pro Bowler played two seasons with the New York Jets before playing his final season in 2010 with the Arizona Cardinals.
Not only is Faneca one of the greatest Steelers ever, he is high on the list of all-time best guards in NFL history.
To go along with those nine Pro Bowl selections, Faneca was also a nine time All Pro selections, a Super Bowl champion (XL), named to the NFL All Decade team of the 2000s and was the two-time alumni voted lineman of the year.
Not a whole lot of room in his trophy case to be sure.
But what is Faneca up to now?
He’s running marathons. No, really. The same big, strong NFL lineman lost a ton of weight and now runs marathons to go along with charity work.
Check out the difference between his playing weight and how he looks today:
Wow! Good for him!
What I wouldn’t give to have him back on the line….
