Arizona Cardinals: Day 1 Free Agency Recap

Day one of free agency is nearly in the books; here’s your afternoon update on the Arizona Cardinals:

– The Cardinals signed massive left tackle Jared Veldheer away from Oakland and nailed down a troublesome position of left tackle. The deal was for five years and $35 million.

– Arizona re-signed kicker Jay Feely to fill a hole in the roster. The Cardinals also re-signed tight end Jake Ballard, Frostee Rucker Alameda Ta’Amu.

-Arizona released offensive guard Daryn Colledge to get his cap hit of more than $7 million off of the books.

– Arizona let Karlos Dansby sign with the Cleveland Browns. It’s a huge loss for the best-ranked rushing defense in the league last season.

-Andre Roberts signed a four-year deal with the Washington Redskins and could be their number two receiver behind Pierre Garcon.

– None have surfaced as of press time. It will be interesting to see who the Cardinals potentially pursue as a third wide receiver. Players like Lance Moore of the Saints are out there but is a restricted free agent. Steve Smith of Carolina could also be available but too rich for Arizona’s blood. Kenny Britt could be a bargain-basement opportunity but his off-field transgressions make him too much of a risk.

Plenty of options are abound for that wide receiver position in free agency. There isn’t anything out there for rumors since Arizona is playing it very close to its chest.
