Bears make a decision on Julius Peppers

The Bears have decided to part ways with Julius Peppers. The 12-year veteran has 119 sacks in his career but only 7.5 sacks for him last season.

By terminating Peppers, the Bears save over $9 million in cap space. He is likely to be designated a June 1 release allowing the Bears to save even more money by spreading his dead money over two years.

The writing was on the wall for Peppers who is 34-years-old and saw the Bears sign Oakland Raiders defensive end Lamarr Houston to a five-year, $35 million contract.

Peppers went to three straight Pro Bowls as a Bear from 2010-2012.
