Dolphins bring in DT Earl Mitchell while Big Paul heads to Atl


The Dolphins continued to fill holes by adding Defensive Tackle Earl Mitchell to a 4 year $16 million deal ($9 million guaranteed). With Soliai and Starks moving on from the Dolphins, the signing of Mitchell makes sense.

He finished with a 1.6 PFF grade against the Pass, but a -4.6 grade against the run.  Mitchell played the nose position in Texas, but is expected to play next to Jared Odrick in the upcoming season. Texans were more than 1 ypc better with him on the field against the run.

The idea is that he was in the wrong scheme with Houston last year. The Dolphins will need to add another defensive tackle in either the draft or free agency, preferably one who can stop the run. Mitchell was a hot commodity this off-season and was said to be on a few different teams lists. In sad news Paul Soliai has officially moved on
