The first day of NFL Free Agency is almost over for the day, and the Houston Texans didn’t make any signings. They did, however, cut tight end Owen Daniels, while nose tackle Earl Mitchell is visiting the Miami Dolphins.
Daniels played eight seasons with the Texans, racking up a total of 385 catches for 4,617 yards and 29 touchdowns. Considering he’s 31 years old, the Texans are likely trying to get younger at the position.
Mitchell also wasn’t expected to re-sign with the Texans, and there’s no reason to believe he will be brought back.
If there was any interesting Texans news today, it was the multiple reports, as started by NFL Network, that the Texans, along with the Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts and Detroit Lions are the teams most interested in Decker right now. It remains to be seen if the Texans make a big push for him.
A quiet day for the Texans today, but many intriguing names, including Decker;s, remain available.
