New Orleans Saints stay quiet on day one of free agency

Day one of free agency is nearly in the books; here’s your evening update on the New Orleans Saints:

– The Saints switched tactics and now plan to trade running back Darren Sproles after numerous teams expressed serious interest, which means they should receive at least some value for the electric playmaker.

– Veteran safety Malcolm Jenkins signed with the Eagles, leaving yet another gap in the Saints’ secondary.

– According to sources at ESPN the Saints have visit lined up with Pro Bowl safety Jairus Byrd, potentially to replace (and in fact upgrade from) the aforementioned Jenkins.
