Rodger Saffold just got paaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidddd. Like, a ton of money.
For some reason, the Raiders allowed their incumbent left tackle, Jared Veldheer, walk in favor of signing Saffold, who has received a 5-year contract worth $42.5 million from Oakland, $21 million of which is guaranteed.
However, it doesn’t even appear that Saffold will be moving into his preferred position of left tackle. (Keep in mind, this is coming from Tony Softli, so take it with a bit of a grain of salt).

That’s a boatload of cash for a guy who’s played just a handful of games at guard in his whole career, all of which came last season. Not to mention the guy has played in just 31 of 48 possible games over the past three seasons due to a litany of injury problems.
I think @seattlerams summed it up best.

Best of luck to Saffold in his future football-related endeavors, but that’s crazy money. The Rams were smart to let him walk.
