Zach Strief needs to start at tackle for New Orleans Saints

After the Jimmy Graham saga, what happens with right tackle Zach Strief becomes the biggest free agent story for the Saints.

Rated as the second best right tackle in the league by Pro Football Focus, it is essential that New Orleans finds a way to work out a deal with Strief to keep him in the Big Easy and solidify their offensive line.

We’ve discussed why it’s crucial for the Saints to not allow him to hit free agency, because once he does he’ll likely be one of the higher paid lineman. Unfortunately, it looks like Strief will go public when free agency begins today which makes signing him all the more difficult.

In the end, signing Strief still makes the most sense because finding a replacement either through free agency or the draft will likely end up in decreased production at right tackle and consequently Drew Brees on his backside more often.

And with Brees’ age now becoming a factor, being kept upright is paramount.
