Jonathan Ogden best tackle Baltimore Ravens have drafted…Big surprise

Not much debate to this one.  Jon Ogden, or Michael Oher…yep, Ogden is going to be the winner here.  Big JO was selected by the Ravens with their very first pick ever, before the team even had a logo.  Taken out of U.C.L.A. number four overall in 1996, Ogden took over as the team’s left tackle and never looked back.

Ogden came into the draft at a monstrous six-foot-nine, and weighing over 340 pounds.  Although it seems like he would be the obvious pick looking back, Ogden wasn’t always who the “experts” had the Ravens selecting.  Many were calling for the team to take Nebraska running back Lawrence Phillips, or Eddie George from Ohio State.  In the end though, the Ravens couldn’t pass on Ogden, and they were all the better for it.

Ogden finished his career with 177 games played, all with the Ravens, 11 Pro Bowls, was a 5 time First Team All-Pro, and of course won a Super Bowl in 2000.  Many consider Ogden to be a top 5 offensive tackle of all time, if not THE best ever.  So yes, Ogden is the best tackle in Ravens history.
