Revis Island moves to New England

Earlier this week as rumors swirled regarding cornerback Darrelle Revis’ departure from Tampa Bay, we went out on a limb and made the claim that Revis would be a Patriot before long.

In a shocking turn of events that seemed all too familiar to the Wes Welker-saga of yesteryear, Aqib Talib was scooped up by AFC rival the Denver Broncos. While it was difficult to stomach the departure of our greatest defensive asset, no one could blame the outspoken player accepting a six-year, $57 million contract.

Once again Patriots blowhards took to the blogosphere to lament the conservative team building approach that Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft have become synonymous with. 12 years ago it made sense to build for the future: A rock-solid defense, a budding young quarterback, and the best mind in football created a great foundation to build a franchise for long-term success. But as the defense aged, the rings stopped coming. Now, Tom Brady is in his twilight years, and New England faithful get ever more restless with each wasted season.

Little did we know that Belichick had a trick tucked away in his hood all along.

Our excitement was quickly tempered when Revis’ business manager hit the brakes.

But stories continued to populate ESPN last night, and the news was all but confirmed. Revis Island would be relocating to New England!

While Patriots fans undoubtedly celebrated through the night, the signing was not official until just a few hours ago.

So rejoice Pats fans… Somehow we landed Darrelle Revis, and somewhere Tom Brady is doing a happy dance. You should too!
