Breaking News: Panthers announce update to Cam Newton’s contract

Carolina Panthers’ general manager Dave Gettleman announced on Tuesday that the team will use it’s fifth-year club option on quarterback Cam Newton. Gettleman also reiterated that Carolina wanted to work out a long-term deal in the future with the 2011 number one overall pick. Newton, who made the Pro Bowl in 2013 after helping to lead the Panthers to their first NFC South title since 2008, will be paid $14.67 million in 2015.
