Pittsburgh Steelers sign a bruising free agent running back

The Pittsburgh Steelers have come to terms with former New England Patriot running back LeGarrette Blount Friday afternoon.

Blount is a big, powerful back weighing in at 245 lbs and standing an inch over six feet.

Blount started his career in Tampa Bay before heading to New England last season where he compiled 772 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging an impressive five yards per carry.

Blount would be expected to spell second year back Le’Veon Bell in the Pittsburgh backfield.

The dollar amount of the contract is unknown at this time, but it is known that the deal is good for two years.

I think this is a great signing, the best of the off season . Now will the Steelers use him or let him waste away on the bench. The fact is ,he is a better back than Bell, the only reason Bell starts is that first round draft status. Don’t get me wrong i think Bell is a good back but he lack that quick lateral step in the hole that opens things up for most backs.

check you facts there, bucko. Bell was a 2nd round draft choice..not a first.. and Blount, while a bruiser, is a liability in pass protection and offers zero production in the passing game. While I love the signing, to say he is a better back then Bell is ridiculous.
