On the surface, outside linebacker doesn’t appear to be a massive need for the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers finished second in defense last year and have a strong linebacking corps lead by Pro Bowlers Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis. However, the other starting spot will likely be occupied by either journeyman Chase Blackburn or 2013 fourth round pick AJ Klein which could complicate things. While Davis signed an extension through 2016 this offseason, we all know that you can be cut at any time in the NFL and given the fact that he’s 31 and has missed multiple seasons to knee surgeries, his time in Carolina is still up in the air.
