Bears pick up a starting caliber offensive lineman

The Chicago Bears have agreed to terms with center Brian De La Puente on a one year contract.

The former New Orleans Saints player started all 16 games in 2012 and 2013. De La Puente, 28, is familiar with the Bears’ system. Current offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Aaron Kromer was the offensive line coach in New Orleans when De La Puente played there.

Terms of the deal weren’t immediately disclosed. Earlier this free agency period, the Bears also brought back long term veteran center Roberto Garza.
