With Chris Johnson and Alterraun Verner now out of town, fans might expect the Tennessee Titans to look for the best available running back or defensive back in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft.
Not so fast.
According to NFL.com, head coach Ken Whisenhunt noted the Titans wouldn’t look to spend their first selection on a running back.
Although coach Ken Whisenhunt echoed Webster’s sentiment that the backfield is a need area, he told NFL Media’s Randy Moss on Wednesday that the Titans will not select a running back at No. 11 overall.
It’s noted in the piece, but I’d also like to bring back a post written here at the Titans cover32 page that Tennessee will likely look in-house for the replacement of Verner.
The early leader to get his spot appears to be Blidi Wreh-Wilson.
