Details are sketchy, but reports are surfacing 49ers star linebacker Aldon Smith was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday afternoon.

From TMZ:

We’re told the drama started at the gate, where Smith was trying to board a plane. We’re told he got into an argument with one of the people working at the gate.

TMZ Sports obtained video showing Smith in handcuffs … telling police he did nothing wrong. He also says they’re going to be “embarrassed.”

Smith has a long history with the law — the 24-year-old defensive end was arrested in 2012 for DUI and in 2013, he was charged with 3 counts of illegal possession of an assault weapon stemming from a violent incident at his home in San Joe, Ca where Smith was stabbed.

More as we get it.

(UPDATE: 5:05 p.m.) – A source that carries a bit more weight than TMZ has confirmed the incident.

We’ll keep you posted.

(UPDATE: 5:55 p.m.) – Well, this isn’t good.

they’re imploding before there is a season to implode yet…good god, 49ers players dropping like flies. wtf is going on with our 49ers? if these guys get suspended or legally detained somehow, who is going to be there in their place? this draft could end up real different than originally anticipated. come on 49ers (players), grow up and keep it together…you guys need to form a better support system with each other!

Now I may be a bit ole fashioned, but since when is it illegal to talk about bombs? Do we not have freedom of speech in this country? What’s next? I can’t talk about the wife’s awful cooking at my kid’s soccer games because the GOVERNMENT might think it’s a biological weapon? Hehehe just kidding. About the bomb thing, not my wife’s cooking.

Life long 49er fan (born in 46) and can’t figure out what’s going on with these guys. So much talent and so little good judgement. Hopefully, York, Baalke and Harbaugh will get together and figure out how to mentor these guys to be good citizens. At the same time, better alter their draft strategy.

IT’S ABOUT TIME THE 49ers bring back Dr. Harry Edwards to work a little more closely with the players!
