Should the Kansas City Chiefs trade Pro Bowl Safety Eric Berry?

The Kansas City Star’s Sam Mellinger believes that the Kansas City Chiefs should consider trading Eric Berry. He goes on to say that if the Chiefs are considering making such a deal, they should do so now.

Mellinger’s argument boils down to two things: the Chiefs are strapped for cash and they’re in desperate need of extra picks. Trading Berry would be a solution to both issues.

The idea makes sense, in theory. But what about in the locker room? If Eric Berry is traded, who steps up as the vocal leader? Without Berry, who is the guy in the defensive secondary that you trust?

Trading Berry solves some issues, but opens up another gaping hole at safety – a position that is already a need even with Berry locking down one side of the field.

So, what are your thoughts? Should the Chiefs consider trading Eric Berry? Let us know in the comments section below.

Great Idea. I know most people will thing I’m crazy, but I don’t give a s***. As many holes as this team has, getting read of 1 great player, to get two great players that would be Chiefs longer, plus not have to pay them as much, is a great idea. The NFL, just as any sport with a salary cap, is a business.
