Breaking: New York Giants sign veteran backup quarterback

While the New York Giants have had arguably the best haul in free agency, on Wednesday they showed they weren’t quite done yet.

Freeman was with the Vikings for a bit last year after a messy break up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The former Kansas State star has been a real mystery, falling from the ranks of serviceable NFL quarterbacks in a sudden manner.

His best years came with Tampa in 2010 and 2012, respectively. In ’10 he threw for 3,451 and 25 touchdowns, to go against just six interceptions. The team finished 10-6 that year. Two seasons later he tossed 27 touchdowns and passed for more than 4,000 yards, although the Bucs went a disappointing 7-9.

Maybe a fresh start and a clear role will help the once promising Freeman get back on track.
