Cardinals Mailbag: The Most Exciting Game of the Season

We want your questions! Shoot them to us on our Twitter feed @cover32_ari and we’ll use it in our mailbag. Here’s this week’s question.

What non-divisional home game on the Cardinals schedule are you looking forward to the most? –Dan in Prescott

That only leaves five possible choices so we’ll break them down.

Detroit- Could be a tough team with Reggie Bush in the backfield. A Patrick Peterson-Calvin Johnson matchup is always a duel of two masters of their position. This game will test the defensive secondary but there’s not enough here to be the answer to the question. And it’s the third straight year Detroit will come to the Valley. Enough already.

Kansas City-The Chiefs look to be a solid game for the Cardinals. Jamaal Charles is always a tough test. If the KC defense from the first half of last season shows up for this game it’s going to be a real slobberknocker.

Philadelphia- There’s going to be some hostility here after the Cardinals lost 27-24 to the Eagles. You know Carson Palmer and the Cardinals are going to be thinking a little about avenging that tough loss in December. The Eagles are going to have a different look with Darren Sproles and without DeSean Jackson and Michael Vick.

San Diego- They backed into a playoff spot at 8-8 thanks to a poor no-call from the officials in their season finale against the Chiefs. The Chargers haven’t made many waves in the offseason so they could be just like last season. The potential to be a team meandering around .500 is a real possibility here.

Washington-Here’s my answer to the question–the Redskins. Washington is going to pose a real tough test for the Cardinals. Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson are going to be a tough 1-2 punch at wide receiver. Former Cardinal Andre Roberts will have his return to the desert after signing for four years (and $16 million) with the ‘Skins. Robert Griffin III is a dangerous threat. Alfred Morris is a punishing back who drives a crummy car. Tight end Jordan Reed will have the position to himself and try to exploit mismatches that other tight ends did last season.

The Redskins are going to be a very tough game for the Cardinals and that’s my answer. The road game is obviously Denver.

The NFL schedule comes out next week, or so we hear, so we’ll soon see when these games are going to happen.
