Philadelphia Eagles to host Nebraska offensive lineman for visit

Spencere Long Philadelphia Eagles

According to ESPN’s Adam Caplan, Nebraska guard Spencer Long will visit with the Philadelphia Eagles soon, among other teams:

Long isn’t a highly-touted prospect, and will likely be a day three selection. After walking on at Nebraska, he started every game at guard during his sophomore and junior seasons. Long was injured halfway though his senior season, but still continued on as a leader for the Nebraska program.

Click here for acomprehensive scouting report on Long, from Alex Dunlap of Bleacher Report. Dunlap compares Long to Davin Joseph, which is a pretty lofty comparison for a guy projected in the late rounds. Joseph is a two-time Pro Bowler.

We all know how much Chip Kelly loves athletic linemen, and Long looks to fit that mold. With both Todd Herremans and Evan Mathis getting up there in age, the Eagles will need to address the interior offensive line at some point in the draft. Long could be a fit in the final day, or even in free agency, for the Eagles.
