Breaking: Phil Costa retires after signing two year deal with Colts last month

We broke the story last month that the Indianapolis Colts had signed veteran Phil Costa to a two year deal to help streghtn the interior offensive line.

Well today that signing becomes pointless. The Colts announced after their first offseason workouts that they have place Phil Costa on the retirement list.

Ryan Grisons had this to say “Phil feels it’s in his best interest to retire from the game,” Colts General Manager Grigson said in a statement. “We certainly understand and wish him nothing but the best.”

There was already concerns about the Colts offensive line, and with Costa retiring the concerns have now turned into a major issue.

There was no indication of injuries setting into the 26 year old, who had become a starter for the Cowboys in recent years. Understanding might be a little unclear at this point, more to come as the story unfolds.
