Former NFL wide receiver and current ESPN analyst Keyshawn Johnson was arrested Monday morning at his San Fernando Valley home.
CBS Los Angeles reports that police arrived at his home at 12:48 a.m. and Johnson was arrested, then charged with misdemeanor domestic battery.
Johnson, the former first overall pick of the 1996 NFL Draft, three-time Pro Bowler and one of the original members of the fan favorite Monday Night Countdown segment , “C’mon Man!” was detained after an alleged dispute with an ex-girlfriend.
TMZ Sports reports that Johnson smashed her phone, causing a cut on her hand.
Johnson was released on a $40,000 bond.
An ESPN spokesman said that they are looking into the incident. Johnson has been with ESPN since 2007.
He played for the New York Jets, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Dallas Cowboys and the Carolina Panthers before retiring in 2006.
Johnson was the Buccaneers’ leading receiver in Super Bowl XXVII with six catches for 69 yards.
