Twenty three years ago today Atlanta selected Brett Favre with the 33rd pick in the 1991 NFL draft.

Obviously his career with the Falcons did not take off as expected. Jerry Glanville, the head coach, said “He was a three year project and I was on a two year contract.” Favre only attempted four passes him his brief tenure, two were intercepted and one was completed to Favre himself for an 11 yard loss.
The Falcons traded him in 1992 for a first round pick and the legend of Brett Favre took off. He won three MVP awards and holds almost every statistically significant NFL record for quarterbacks.
Obviously if the Falcons had a crystal ball they would have never traded Favre that prematurely.
Hopefully Atlanta is not so short sighted when making personal decisions in the future. Farve had his demons, how could Atlanta have known he could be a future hall of famer.
